Biofficina Toscana supports the Ogyre project which brings together people and the sea in collecting marine litter and in cleaning the seas, for the conservation of the Oceans and the marine eco-system.
With the motto “From the Ocean, for the Ocean”, Ogyre acts as a bridge by bringing together businesses, activists and fishermen in an initiative to safeguard the oceans for environmental regeneration.
Ogyre is a charitable corporation committed to fighting plastic pollution in the oceans, working for a future in which our seas are free of plastic waste and marine creatures can thrive without being threatened in a protected and regenerated marine eco-system. By using advanced technologies and innovative approaches, Ogyre is dedicated to collecting plastic waste and preventing its proliferation. But their efforts are not limited to removing debris, they are also focused on education and raising awareness, seeking to turn being aware of the problem into doing something about it.
Ogyre is revolutionising the fight against plastic pollution in the oceans with an innovative and sustainable approach. Just think, every day fishermen not only catch fish, but also kilo upon kilo of plastic waste from the seas. This method, called "fishing for litter", allows us to collect marine litter during normal fishing operations. With a network of fishermen in Brazil, Italy and Indonesia, Ogyre can collect up to 50 kilograms of plastic per day, while also providing an important source of income for these fishing communities.
Ogyre's activities do not stop at collection. The organisation transforms collected plastic waste into new sustainable products. Each piece of plastic collected is re-purposed into swimwear, eco-friendly jackets and water bottles, all made with a commitment to the environment. Ogyre not only cleans up the oceans, but re-purposes materials so that nothing is wasted, demonstrating that it is possible to tackle a global problem while creating value and opportunity. With Ogyre, every action contributes to a cleaner and more sustainable future for our seas.
Of course! Like any serious project, the Ogyre project is documented and monitored in real time, both globally and with a focus on our specific campaign, “Biofficina Toscana with Ogyre”.

For our specific campaign to support waste collection in the oceans, Ogyre provides us with regular certifications, month by month, of the kilograms of plastic collected thanks to our contribution, which we will then publish on our website and social media from the first month of the campaign, i.e. September 2024.
Everything will be further supported and documented in the form of video and graphic material visible on Benefit Corporation’s website on a global scale and also for our campaign, we will provide consumers with this material too to inform them and involve them in the contribution that they too can make together with us!
For us, sustainability is a constantly evolving commitment, a value that, together with transparency, sets us apart since day one.
In fact, Biofficina has always been committed to respecting and caring for our planet by creating natural eco-organic products formulated with organic Tuscan ingredients, using sustainable packs and eradicating all excess, promoting initiatives to support the environment with a view to creating a project compatible with nature in all its processes. ...but we couldn't stop there!
We wanted to embark on a serious and committed partnership with Ogyre, a significant step in our mission to safeguard the environment and promote sustainable practices.
We therefore decided to contribute to the Ogyre project with all our shampoos, day-to-day consumer products and among our best-selling products with which therefore – although 100% recyclable, recycled or biobased – plastic is necessarily periodically introduced into the environment, also with a view to compensating for it: gentle shampoo, reinforcing shampoo, SOS chestnut shampoo, purifying shampoo, colour-balancing anti-yellowing shampoo, volumising shampoo-mousse, straightening shampoo-mousse, tCoWash for curly hair, Cowash for straight hair.
Therefore, by purchasing one of these products, consumers will also be able to contribute to this important project because….every drop counts, every action makes a difference!
For us, taking part in the Ogyre campaign is extremely significant; it means synergy between all, opportunities to translate certain values into everyday reality, bringing together passion and accountability to face one of the most pressing environmental challenges of our time, together!
